News & EventsMoon Supervisors approve preliminary 2011 budget Posted: November 18, 2010 The Moon Township Board of Supervisors approved Moon Township’s preliminary 2011 budget at the Nov. 17, workshop meeting. View the preliminary 2011 budget here. The Township’s total estimated general operating budget for 2011 is approximately $11.3 million. The estimated 2011 capital budget for 2011 totals to approximately $2.6 million to cover projects, including the 2011 Road Program, a street sweeper replacement and the purchase of a new fire engine. Moon Township’s 2011 tax rate remains at 3.28 mils with .2 mils allocated for the fire tax, which covers equipment and training costs for the Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company. This is Moon Township’s sixth consecutive year without a tax increase. The Township will maintain all municipal services in 2011. Adoption of the final 2011 budget is scheduled for Board of Supervisors December workshop meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8. Hard copies of the preliminary budget will be available for public review for 20 days at the Moon Township Municipal Building, Public Safety Building (open 24/7) and the Moon Township Public Library. The Township of Moon is requesting proposals to assist in the preparation and completion of the Township's Comprehensive Plan update. All questions can be directed to the Township office during regular office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday at (412) 262-1700.
