AutoZone plan approved
Posted: March 4, 2011

At its March 2, meeting, the Moon Township Board of Supervisors approved a major land development plan for a 6,785 square-foot AutoZone retail store to be constructed at 6052 University Blvd., the current Trivia Pub location. As part of Moon Township’s University Boulevard Overlay District, the AutoZone site plan incorporates streetscape amenities, including sidewalks, street trees and pedestrian lighting fronting the corridor.

Before voting on the plan, the board held a public hearing and approved two conditional use requests concerning the property’s driveway entrances. Driveways will be located on University Boulevard, the signalized Moon Plaza access driveway and at the rear of the building for delivery truck access. The site’s University Boulevard driveway will be located less than the required 185 feet from neighboring driveways for Moon Plaza and Goodyear, which isn’t feasible due to distance between the properties.
Consultant selected to update comprehensive plan
Posted: March 4, 2011

This spring, Moon Township moves into the next phase of its 2011 Comprehensive Plan update to map out a vision for the Township’s next decade.

At its March 2, regular meeting, the Moon Township Board of Supervisors retained Olsen & Associates, LLC, of Butler, Pa., as project consultant for the 2011 plan update, which the Planning Commission has been laying the groundwork for since last February. The firm submitted a bid of $80,698 to complete the Township’s Comprehensive Plan Update, including three alternate studies focused on the Township’s overlay districts, Mooncrest Historic District and an analysis of a Town Center concept.

Also at the helm will be a committee of residents, business owners, developers and township representatives, who will hold public input sessions throughout the planning process. The ten-year update, which is required by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, builds on the Township’s 2000 Comprehensive Plan.

Meeting times and updates will be posted at www.moontwp.com. Check back for updates throughout the process.
