Recycling Day 2010 Collects Electronics, Appliances, Tires and More
Posted: June 21, 2010
A team of 15 volunteers and several hundred eco-conscious Moon residents made Moon Township’s Fifth Annual Recycling Day event a huge success. Three hundred Moon residents hauled tires, electronics, construction materials and household appliances to the Municipal Building on Saturday, June 5, instead of hauling them to the curb for garbage pick-up.
Sponsored by the Environmental Advisory Council, with the support of the Board of Supervisors, the annual Recycling Day event helps residents properly dispose of difficult-to-recycle items from bulky items, such as construction materials, to small electronics like cell phones.
Here’s a breakdown of the recyclable materials collected at Moon Township Recycling Day 2010:
Electronics: 23,636 lbs.
Tires: 205
Household appliances: 81
Construction materials: Construction Junction collected a high-quality batch of reusable
materials, including doors, windows and sinks.
So, start saving your unused items for next year’s Recycling Day event and do your spring cleaning the eco-friendly way. Find out more about this event by visiting the EAC’s web page.
