MSN Money lists Moon as cost-effective retirement destination
Posted: July 7, 2010

A June MSN Money article ranked Moon Township as one of five U.S. communities that give retirees a bang for their buck.

Rated on affordable housing, economic strength, access to medical care and leisure opportunities, Moon Township stood out as both a livable and affordable community.

As the home of Robert Morris University and a number of high-profile national corporations, such as FedEx Ground and GlaxoSmithKline, the article identified Moon Township as a thriving Pittsburgh satellite that “is going through a sort of resurgence.”

In addition to its strong business community and the educational and cultural opportunities offered by Robert Morris University, Moon Township encompasses more than 600 acres of park space that include athletic fields, play lots, and walking and hiking trails.

“It is gratifying to see Moon Township recognized for being an ideal place to settle down,” said Tim McLaughlin, chairman of the Moon Township Board of Supervisors. “We are proud of the variety of assets, from economic to recreation opportunities, which make Moon Township a well-balanced place to live.”
