MCA-TV Call for Submissions for 2010 Film Festival
Posted: May 13, 2010
Moon Community Access Television is seeking local filmmaking talent to submit their work for the third annual MCA-TV Film Festival set for July.
With the June 11, submission deadline quickly approaching, MCA-TV encourages local filmmakers to enter films of any genre and length for the opportunity to showcase their work on cable television.
The Film Festival will air live on MCA-TV, Comcast channel 14 and Verizon channel 35, on Saturday, July 17 and Sunday, July 18. In addition to the exposure, entrants will compete for first, second and third place cash prizes made possible through the support of local businesses.
MCA-TV Assistant Director Ryan McAfee launched the first MCA-TV Film Festival three years ago in an effort to support local filmmakers by showcasing their work to a broader audience. This year, top film entries from the 2009 MCA-TV Film Fest made it to the big screen at the historic Strand Theater in Zelienople during a two-day showing earlier this month.
Supporting this kind of exposure for local filmmakers is exactly what the Film Festival is about.
“The Film Festival exposes viewers to different types of film genres and styles that fall outside the mainstream,” McAfee said. “It also offers independent filmmakers the chance to get their work out to a group of people that might not otherwise see it.”
