This winter, MCA-TV is distributing its 2010 viewer survey to Moon residents to gather feedback about programming and volunteer opportunities at the station. The results will help MCA-TV staff members cater program development and scheduling to the interests of Moon residents.

Beginning this month, Residents will receive an MCA-TV viewer survey enclosed in their utility bill from the Moon Township Municipal Authority. Residents can return completed surveys with their utility bill or drop them off at the MCA-TV studio located at 1700 Beaver Grade Road. The survey also will be available online at www.mca-tv.com.

“We want residents to have a say in the station whether they’re producing or watching MCA-TV programs, but we’re also encouraging the community to take an active part in their community television station,” said Jim Koepfinger, executive director of MCA-TV.

MCA-TV reaches approximately 20,000 households in Moon Township and surrounding areas on Comcast channel 14 and Verizon FiOS channel 35. The majority of MCA-TV programming is produced by Moon Township residents and volunteers.

This week, the Moon Township Board of Supervisors approved the 2011 Moon Township budget , which keeps tax rates flat for the sixth consecutive year.

The Township’s 2011 property tax rate remains at 3.28 mils with .2 mils allocated for the fire tax, which funds equipment and training costs for the Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company. All municipal services will be maintained for the coming year.

The 2011 general operating budget totals to approximately $11.3 million, and the approximately $2.63 million capital budget will cover projects, including the 2011 Road Program, a street sweeper replacement and the purchase of a new fire engine.

The Moon Township Zoning Hearing Board will hold a public hearing on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Building, 1000 Beaver Grade Road, Allegheny County, Moon Township, PA 15108.

To hear a request from Susan Hilliard, 908 Tottenham Drive, Moon Township, PA 15108, for a variance to Moon Township Code Chapter 208. The applicant is requesting a 3 foot side yard setback variance to construct a roof over an existing concrete patio in an R-3 Zoning District.
