Snow Plowing

Snow Falling in Moon TownshipThe Public Works Department is responsible for salting and plowing Township-owned roads during cold-weather months. Moon Township is not responsible for maintaining State-owned roads, including Busness Route 60 and University Boulevard. Additionally, Moon Township doesn't own the roads in each housing development. In some cases, those roads are the responsibility of the developer.

Curb side pick-up program begins in April

There will be a curbside brush and tree limb clean up program in Moon Township this Spring, beginning April 1and lasting through April 30, 2008. The program will take place daily Monday through Friday.

The program will follow residents’ regular rubbish pick-up schedule. For example, if your rubbish pick up day is on Monday, then your curbside pick up will be on Mondays as well. Public Works employees will go out with a truck and chipper and chip up brush that the residents bring out to the curb line. The following regulations will be in effect:

  • Brush should not exceed 6 feet in length
  • Brush should not have a diameter than 4 inches
  • Brush shall not be bundled or tied or in bags or boxes
  • Brush shall be at the curb line by 8:00 AM
  • Any brush or tree limbs not at the curb line will not be picked up
  • Public Works employees will not pick up leaves.

The Drop-off site will be open every Saturday and Sunday throughout April, so the residents may drop off brush and leaves.

Moon Township Salt Storage FacilityConstruction is complete on the new Salt Storage Facility

Moon Township’s new salt storage facility is ready for the winter weather. The lage facility was constructed next to the Stevenson Mill Road Garage, located off of Moon Clinton Road. The new facility will hold nearly 4,500 tons of salt to begin the cold-weather months.

In addition to their regular responsibilities, the Public Works Department conducts several special projects throughout the year.

Some of the projects are for the public, while others are intended to help the Township with major and minor construction projects.
