Basic Responsibilities

The Moon Township EAC’s basic responsibilities are to provide independent advice and counsel to the Moon Township on environmental issues such as:

  • Identifying environmental issues and recommending plans to appropriate agencies for promotion and conservations of natural resources.
  • Protecting and improving the quality of the environment within its territorial limits.
  • Making recommendations as to the possible use of open land areas of the political subdivision within its territorial limits.
  • Promoting a community environmental program.
  • Keeping an index of open areas, publicly or privately owned, for the purpose of obtaining information on the proper use of such area.
  • Advising the appropriate Township of Moon agencies, including but not limited to, the Planning Commission and Township of Moon Supervisors.

Recent Projects

  • Recycling Day – June 2, 2007
  • Household hazardous waste grant application through DEP
  • Battery Recycling with Battery Solutions using white pails at the Community Service Center, 1700 Beaver Grade Road.
  • Stormwater Training on August 30, 2007
  • Partnered with HOLT and participated in the Great PA Clean Up on April 21, 2007 along the Montour Trail
  • Participated in Earthday Events at Robin Hill Park on April 22, 2007 giving out white pines and white dogwood trees and environmental education materials.
